    Introduction

This fly-in safari is a truly spectacular and unique experience and offers the utmost in luxury while following the wildlife through the National Parks of the untouched south of Tanzania.

In addition to being one of the best places in the world for up-close encounters with chimpanzees, Mahale Mountains National Park, is absolutely stunning.

    Day 1: Dar es Salaam

Arrive at the Dar es Salaam International Airport where you’ll be met and transferred to the Oyster Bay Hotel in the port town of Dar es Salaam. The hotel faces the ocean and has a private, homely atmosphere, perfect for your first night in Tanzania. Settle in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, in anticipation of your adventure.

    Day 2 & 3: Discover the Selous

Enjoy an early breakfast at Oyster Bay before transferring back to the Dar es Salaam International Airport where you will board a short flight to the Selous Game Reserve. On arrival, a camp driver will be waiting to take you to the Rufiji River Camp, an intimate safari lodge in this vast and beautiful wilderness. Enjoy a delicious lunch before heading off on your first exciting game drive. The following day will also be dedicated to discovering the resident animals and far-stretching landscapes of the Selous Game Reserve. Return to the camp in the afternoon to marvel at the spectacular sunsets while sipping on a refreshing drink.

Day 4 & 5: Explore the Ruaha National Park

Enjoy one last breakfast in the Selous before heading off to the Kiba Airstrip in time for your flight to Ruaha National Park. A transfer will take you to your accommodation for the following two nights – Ruaha River Lodge. Here you will enjoy a lovely lunch before going on an afternoon game. When you return to the camp, dinner will await you and you can enjoy a relaxed evening on the banks of the Ruaha River. The following day you will enjoy more game drives to spot the resident wildlife.

    Day 6 – 8: Chimp-Trekking & Relax

After breakfast, you will transfer back to the Airstrip for a scheduled flight to Mahale Mountains National Park. From the airport you will be taken to Greystoke Mahale Camp, situated on a white sandy beach at the foot of the mountains and overlooking Lake Tanganyika – the longest freshwater lake in Tanzania. Its location makes it ideal for both chimp trekking and a relaxing beach holiday. Go on a chimp trekking excursion and see these impressive animals eat, sleep and play in their natural environment as you follow them around on foot. Return to the camp to enjoy water sports like snorkeling, fishing or kayaking.

Day 9: The end of your trip

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airstrip for your short flight back to Dar es Salaam.
