Petauke is a small town located approximately 350 km north of Lusaka without any particular attraction, but located half-way on the route to South Luangwa National Park. To reach it, we must exit the Lower Zambezi Valley and drive to Lusaka (140km, approx. 2,5 hours, all tarmac road), where we will stop for supplies. From there, we will travel north-east for approximately 350km on a scenic road crossing the mountains (approx. 5 hours) to reach Petauke, where we will lodge at Chimwemwe Executive Lodge. Dinner is at the restaurant of the Lodge.

Mfuwe is the closest village from where to access South Luangwa National Park. Even though it is very close to such an internationally acclaimed attraction, it still maintains the spirit and looks of a traditional Zambian village.

To reach Mfuwe we will proceed for approximately 350km of tarmac road (approx. 5 hours), passing the capitol of the north-eastern province: Chipata, where we will stop for lunch. Once arrived in Mfuwe, we will check in at Marula Lodge, where we will spend the night Camping in a fully equipped camping area with toilets and hot showers, and if the time allows we will visit the Tribal Textile laboratory. In addition to a large population of felines (mostly leopards and lions), it is home of a large number of elephants, hippos, buffaloes and numerous endemic species such as Thorncrofft giraffe, Cookson’s wildebeests, Crashway’s zebras. The Luangwa river has the highest concentration of hippos per km2 in the whole Africa and offers great reproduction and hunting ground for many animals, such as fish eagles, jackals hyenas, crocodiles and countless birds. Sunsets on the Luangwa river are unforgettable experiences and the visit to this National Park is consider one of the highlights for any true Africa lover.

During your stay, you will have 2 game drives per day and all meals at the camp. Nights will be camping at Marula Lodge with a full-board arrangement, cooked by the accompanying cook.

You will be met at the airport, and transferred by light aircraft to Linkwasha airstrip, this flight will take 45 minutes, Little Makalolostaff will be waiting to transfer you by road to Camp, this is treated as a game drive and can take around 30 minutes.

Little Makalolo lies in the heart of Hwange National Park, in one of its best game viewing areas, overlooking a vibrant waterhole. It offers privacy for guests who enjoy small camps and a sense of remoteness.

The camp’s six traditional-style tents are spacious and en-suite, with indoor and outdoor showers. Solar power is used to heat water, ensuring a lighter environmental footprint.Linking the tents to the main area are teak walkways.

The pool is a fantastic addition especially for those hot summer days. There is a log-pile hide overlooking the waterhole in front of camp which is home to literally a Noah’s Ark parade of animals as they come down to quench their thirst.

Little Makalolo is on their own private concession which allows for exciting game drives and walking safaris without the crowds. Day 5: Guided tour of Victoria Falls

This is truly an awe-inspiring experience – the sight, the sound, the smell; the humbling feeling that here indeed is Nature’s Supreme Masterpiece. No photograph can begin to depict the reality…and nothing prepares you for your first sight.  The Victoria Falls reaches its zenith in about May each year.

En route, you will be taken past the ‘Big Tree’ where you may stop and take photos.  You will be accompanied through the Rainforest by one of the qualified Guides who will give a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. Guides are also happy to assist clients with photographs whilst visiting this most spectacular of waterfalls. Raincoats are provided when needed.

Dinner Cruise on Zambezi Reflections

This afternoon you will be collected by Zambezi Reflections and transferred to the river. Onarrival, you will embark on a dinner cruise!

Enjoy the best of both worlds, a spectacular Zambezi sunset cruise followed by a four-course meal, freshly prepared on-board by our chefs, and served to you while cruising along the river with the sounds of the African bush providing your background music.

You will be driven back to Victoria Falls airport to catch your international flight home.

You will be met at the airport and transferredin a light aircraft to Mana Pools. This flight will take approximately 1 hour.

On arrival Chikwenya staff will meet you and transfer you to camp, the airstrip is only 200m from the lodge.

Situated on the eastern boundary of Mana Pools National Park, Chikwenya is a photographer’s paradise as it looks out over an open floodplain and the broad Zambezi River, with a backdrop provided by the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment.

The camp is surrounded by a dense forest of Albida and Natal Mahogany trees, which provide deep shade in the heat of the day. The Albidas shed their protein-rich pods during the dry season, providing vital sustenance for many species, particularly elephant.

Chikwenya is a seven-tented camp (including two family units). All stand on low wooden decks and pine walkways link them to the raised main area.  The lounge, dining and bar area are places of hospitality and relaxation, and a pool and deck offer alternate spaces to enjoy the scenery and passing wildlife.

On day 4, after breakfast, you will be flown on a light aircraft to Bumi Hills airstrip this flight takes 45 minutes, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge staff will be waiting for you and will transfer you to Camp by road.

Enjoy sundowners at a scenic spot in the bush and a short night drive back to camp where a campfire will be waiting to welcome you.

Dinner will be served in the dining tent, followed by your first night in the Botswana wilderness.

After your morning activity, return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by an afternoon siesta. Spend some time with a pair of binoculars overlooking the waterhole in front of camp and enjoy the presence of wildlife and birdlife around camp. Lunch will be served later in the day before you depart on afternoon game drive, including sundowners and a night drive back to camp.

• Transfer through Moremi Game Reserve to Xobega Island

Early morning wake up call followed by coffee and breakfast at Tuskers before you embark on the +-3.5 to 4.5 hour road transfer through the Moremi Game Reserve to Xobega Island Camp. This is a complete game drive experience as the transfer takes you from Tuskers, into Moremi’s Khwai Gate through the reserve along the Khwai riverfront, and stopping to enjoy a picnic lunch. You will arrive at Xakanaxa Boat Station where your guide from Xobega Island Camp will pick you up in a motorboat.

Climb aboard and enjoy the 1.5 hour boat cruise through the Delta waterways to Xobega Island. Arrive to welcome drinks and receive a briefing by the camp host before being shown to your classic canvas safari tent under the trees.

After some refreshments it’s time for your sunset boat cruise. Your guide will pack a cooler box with your choice of drinks and you will depart the island and cruise into the sunset.

Enjoy the Delta’s beauty and birdlife for a couple of hours before returning to camp for dinner and your first night on Xobega Island.

Early wake up call followed by coffee and breakfast in the dining tent. After breakfast you will depart for a long boat cruise through the Okavango Delta, gliding through the channels in between a myriad of islands.

Remember your camera and sun block, as you will be out on the water until late morning.

Upon returning to camp, you are welcome to have a warm bucket shower and refresh before lunch is served in the dining tent. Sit down and enjoy a good meal, followed by an afternoon siesta, or a spot of birdwatching on the island. High tea is served later in the afternoon and a sunset cruise complete with sundowners awaits to end the day.

After your sunset cruise, return to camp to enjoy the campfire and a 3-course dinner before tuning in for your last night on Xobega Island.

Wake up early to coffee and breakfast in the dining tent on Xobega Island before departing the Delta and heading for the Savuti. After breakfast, you’re back out on the water for a 1.5 hour boat cruise transfer from Xobega to Xakanaxa Boat Station, where you will switch to a game viewer and be transferred to Xakanaxa Airstrip to connect with your light air transfer to Savuti.

Upon arrival at Savuti Airstrip in Chobe National Park, your

Camp Savuti guide will be waiting to meet you. You will then enjoy a 30-minute transfer through the park to Camp Savuti, located on the banks of the Savuti Channel. Receive a warm welcome and a briefing from your host before having lunch and settling in to your tented room.

Later on in the afternoon you can enjoy a sunset game drive including a sundowner stop at a designated stretch point in the park and enjoy being surrounded by the famous Savuti! Head back to camp and refresh before dinner.

Enjoy a lengthy cruise around the Savuti Marsh and time to stop for coffee and rusks at a stretch point in the park. High tea is served at the lodge later in the afternoon and is followed by an afternoon game drive complete with sundowners in the bush. As the sun sets, return to camp and enjoy the open-air campfire and a special dinner out on the deck under the stars.

Arrival and you will be welcome by our driver guide who will transfer you to the hotel for briefing. For late night arrivals, briefings will be done in the mornings before the trip departure.

Depart to Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast, where we will spend a night. On the way we can stop over on the Equator for a few photos and then proceed for lunch in mbarara. Early morning excursion to kyambura gorge for the chimp trekking session which starts at 8.00am, the chimp walk is so enchanting with a fresh smell of the forest in search for the chimpanzees. After the trekking session we will have a quick breakfast in order to head off and be in time with the afternoon game drive at Isasha to view the tree climbing lions. Lunch will be in Kihihi after which you will head off to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Early morning breakfast with packed picnic lunch and 7.30am head off to the pack offices for briefing and meeting the ranger guides. The treks starts at 8.30am and usually takes 4-8 hours of hiking in the mountains in search for gorillas, it’s really a great and unique experience to see the lovely primates feeding and spending a full hour with the tourists. In-case you come back earlier you will have an afternoon village walk to experience how the local people lead there lives in Bwindi. Coming back in the evening for refreshment dinner and overnight. After an early morning breakfast, driver will be ready to transfer to Kasese, on the way stop over Fortportal for lunch. After lunch you will have a short trip at one of the most amazing Amabere caves and simple hike to view the crater lakes in Fort portal which helps in acclimatization before you continue to kasese. Start at Trekkers at 1,450 meters and sleep at Sine Hut at 2,596 meters being a height gain of 1,146 meters, or those who are fit and want to proceed to Kalalama Camp at 3,134 metres may do so and apart from the fantastic views gives you more time at Mutinda Camp where you may climb up to Mutinda Lookout at 3,975 metres.

We start by walking up the valley floor through tall forest trees of the Afro Montane Forest Zone. This is a steady climb with multitudes of birds and a chance of seeing blue monkeys scampering off through the forest. At times visitors may see troupes of 15 to 20 black and white Colobus monkeys as they swing through the tree tops. There are rare sightings of the L’Hoest monkey which are part of the Bukonzo cultural emblems and are protected by the virtue of the King or Omusinga or you may hear wild chimpanzee in the distance. There is wide variety of plant species from forest trees to bamboos thickets, low shrubs, flowers, fungi, and with many moss and lichen covered vines hanging from the tall trees creating an awesome appeal. Enock’s Falls are just 200 meters from Sine Hut and offer a splendid opportunity to capture a great screensaver for your memories.

At Sine Camp 2,596 metres we have wooden huts set between tall forest trees on a narrow ridge where you may sit and enjoy the beauty of the Afro Montane forest while you look down at a fantastic waterfall crashing over the rocks far below. Some clients prefer to sit outside enjoying the warmth of the campfire and chat to the guides about the mountains and life in their community. Sine is just below the bamboo zone and the area around has many different bird species. 150 meters from the camp is Enock falls which is set in livid green vegetation and hanging vine. Truly beautiful. Sleep at Sine, or those who are fit and want to proceed to Kalalama Camp at 3,134 metres may do so and apart from the fantastic views gives you more time at Mutinda Camp where you may climb up to Mutinda Lookout at 3,975 metres.

Trekking starts at 8.30am and almost immediately you enter the Bamboo-Mimulopsis Zone which is steep climb with many high steps. In the wet season the bamboo zone is rather muddy and slippery making the going slow. However the atmosphere and the forest is beautiful as you climb 551 metres altitude and a distance of 1.8km to Kalalama Camp at 3,147 meters which is in the Heather-Rapanea Zone where you can take a rest and a quick cup of tea or coffee before heading on to Mutinda Camp. The trail meanders up and over several small knolls along a ridge top then drops down the side of the valley before climbing again, and in doing so cross several small streams and pass close to moss covered waterfalls. You then climb steadily along the side of a beautiful mossy river which tumbles down over the rocks under the Giant Heather trees whose trunks are covered in green moss with old man beards (Usnea lichen) hanging from the branches. The trail twists and turns as you climb up the deep valley, which has an enormous variety of plants and flowers. This valley is unique with many Giant Heather trees creating a beautiful atmosphere often shrouded in mist.

In the afternoon you may wish to climb up to the top of the Mutinda Lookout (one to two hours up and one hour down) The views are amazing as you stand on moss covered rocks at 3,925 meters with views across the Rwenzori Mountains and down to Kasese town and Lake George. For those clients who are climbing to Margherita or any of the main peaks climbing Mutinda 3,975 meters is also an excellent way to acclimatise and reduce the risk of high altitude sickness
Sleep at Mutinda Camp at 3.582 metres

The trail to Bugata Camp is boggy particularly in the wet season but with a little skill you can step from tussock to tussock to make the going easier. First you cross the Mutinda valley through the tussock grass and everlasting flowers interspersed with many Giant Lobelias before climbing a steep section up to the Namusangi Valley (3,840 meters), with sheer waterfalls and looking back you get fantastic views of Mutinda Peaks. The Namusangi Valley is wide, with many ups and downs as the trail climbs steadily to Bugata Camp at 4,100 metres.

Trek to Hunwick’s Camp via Bamwanjarra Pass. As you leave Bugata Camp you pass up a ridge then drop down slightly before ascending to Bamwanjarra Pass at 4,450 meters where we have a hut should the weather turn bad. From the pass on a clear day you get excellent views of the three main peaks. The trail passes down the valley and around the edge of some bogs and thick ever green vegetation, moss. giant groundsel and lobelia. Here is possibly the best place in all the Rwenzori to observe the Malachite Sunbird as it feeds on the many lobelia flowers and a known breeding site. Farther on there is some steep sections before a steady climb up and over a ridge to Hunwick’s Camp which is situated on the top of a deep valley and has good views of Mt Stanley, Mt Baker, Weismanns Peak and McConnell’s Prong.

From Hunwick’s we pass down and across the valley floor to Lake Kitendara which is very stunning with deep water and beautiful vegetation. From here you climb up Scott Elliott’s pass then up the ridge to Margherita Camp 4,485 metres which is situated between some huge rocks and offering some shelter from the strong winds. This is the very spot where the Duke of Abruzzi camped when making his climb to Margherita Peak in 1906.

Wake up at 2am and catch an early breakfast before heading off to climb Mt Stanley at 2.30am. This is necessary as the weather has changed a lot and often even during the dryer season the mountain is closed in with heavy clouds and snow falls from 1 pm to 4pm and this happens within a short period of 10 to 15 minutes as the clouds rise up from the extensive Congo rainforests. During January and February 2017 clients were closed in and unable to walk during heavy snow storms which previously were not heard of during the dryer season and arrived back at Margherita camp well after dark with one group arriving back at 11pm totally exhausted. Due to this change in weather we have set a strict turn around time of 10am so if you do not reach the peak before then you must turn around regardless of the disappointment in the interests of safety. Margherita glacier has also suffered with global warming and as the outer edges of the glacier recede the ice is becoming steeper with one section of about 200 meters more than 60% grade. Combined with this much of the blacker has melted underneath causing caves under the ice and as it get thinner eventually caves in. So is necessary that clients understand and take advice of where the guides suggest to pass.For those clients with less mountaineering experience we suggest that you stay on Stanley glacier and climb up to a good vantage point on a rocky outcrop on the southern edge of Alexandra Peak to enjoy fantastic views over Congo and the lower mountain ridges.After ascending the peak at 5,109 metres you then pass directly down to Hunwick’s Camp at 3.874 metres

Distance to Kiharo Camp 11km Time taken to walk 4 to 7 hoursFrom Hunwick’s Camp we start the day by climbing up a ridge towards McConnell’s Prong where you get the best views of all three peaks and Scott Elliott’s Pass before reaching Oliver’s Pass at 4,505 metres. The distance from Hunwick’s Camp to the top of Olivers Pass is 3km The trail then cuts across below Weismann’s Peak to the confluence of the Nyamwamba River which flows down thought Kilembe and Kasese to Lake George in Queen Elisabeth National Park.If you wish to climb Weismanns Peak 4,620 metres from Olivers pass you may do so at an extra cost of $20 each. On a clear day you get fantastic views of Margherita and Mt Stanley, Mt Speke and Mt Baker.After crossing the confluence the trail meanders down the valley to Kiharo Camp at which is situated in a deep valley with high cliffs and dense vegetation. On the way down the valley after each bog you will climb over a ridge of stones and earth which seems out of place but actually was pushed there by slow moving glaciers which eventually stopped moving, melted and left a pile of rocks and debris in front of where the glacier once stood.

Distance Kiharo Camp to the park gate 12.2km and another 2.8km down to Trekkers Hostel Time to walk 5 to 8 hours so those who need to connect to flights back to Kampala or travel on to other activities need to leave Kiharo early.The trail down the Nyamwamba Valley is mostly downhill and absolutely stunning with beautiful views, moss covered rocks along the river, cascading waterfalls, deep valleys and forests are possibly the best in the Rwenzori Mountains. This part of the trail took us six years to find a way through and a route which is easy enough for tourists to use. In 1937 the explorer and geologist McConnell tried to find a way up this valley but failed and have to turn back and search for another route up the mountain but now you can experience this truly beautiful valley.A few kilometers from Kiharo Camp the path turns off to the right to pass along the river. In the clear areas you may catch a glimpse of a Duiker quietly feeding in small clearings as you pass along the river. If you wish you may prefer to walk down the river itself opping across the rocks as you pass down. A few kilometres down the river it becomes very steep with multitudes of waterfalls so we have to move away from the river and follow a narrow ridge to bypass steep sections. At the bottom we again meet the river where there is a huge rock shelter and a place to rest for a while. After crossing a small stream you climb up a gentle slope before turning back down to the river to avoid another set of waterfalls which are impassable. The forest along this section is magnificent and full of life with many birds, primates, dikers and hyrax. A great experience and ending to a fantastic trek. Upon arrival at Maun Airport, your host from Tuskers Bush Camp will meet you and drive you the 1.5 hour journey to the lodge, where it is located in a vast 365 000 hectare private concession. Settle in and enjoy the view with some refreshments before departing for a evening game drive via the private road network. Enjoy sundowners at a scenic spot in the bush and a short night drive back to camp where a campfire will be waiting to welcome you.

Dinner will be served in the dining tent, followed by your first night in the Botswana wilderness

An early wake up call will be met with coffee and rusks at the main area of camp before you depart on a morning game drive or optional bush walk through the pristine Tuskers concession. A guided walking safari through this exclusive region will bring you closer to the details of nature, while you might be lucky enough to encounter big game on foot.

After your morning activity, return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by an afternoon siesta. Spend some time with a pair of binoculars overlooking the waterhole in front of camp and enjoy the presence of wildlife and birdlife around camp. Lunch will be served later in the day before you depart on afternoon game drive, including sundowners and a night drive back to camp.

Dinner is served, followed by your last night in a Tuskers safari tent.

Early morning wake up call followed by coffee and breakfast at Tuskers before you embark on the +-3.5 to 4.5 hour road transfer through the Moremi Game Reserve to Xobega Island Camp. This is a complete game drive experience as the transfer takes you from Tuskers, into Moremi’s Khwai Gate through the reserve along the Khwai riverfront, and stopping to enjoy a picnic lunch. You will arrive at Xakanaxa Boat Station where your guide from Xobega Island Camp will pick you up in a motorboat.

Climb aboard and enjoy the 1.5 hour boat cruise through the Delta waterways to Xobega Island. Arrive to welcome drinks and receive a briefing by the camp host before being shown to your classic canvas safari tent under the trees.

After some refreshments it’s time for your sunset boat cruise. Your guide will pack a cooler box with your choice of drinks and you will depart the island and cruise into the sunset.

Enjoy the Delta’s beauty and birdlife for a couple of hours before returning to camp for dinner and your first night on Xobega Island.

Early wake up call followed by coffee and breakfast in the dining tent. After breakfast you will depart for a long boat cruise through the Okavango Delta, gliding through the channels in between a myriad of islands.

Remember your camera and sun block, as you will be out on the water until late morning.

Upon returning to camp, you are welcome to have a warm bucket shower and refresh before lunch is served in the dining tent. Sit down and enjoy a good meal, followed by an afternoon siesta, or a spot of birdwatching on the island. High tea is served later in the afternoon and a sunset cruise complete with sundowners awaits to end the day.

After your sunset cruise, return to camp to enjoy the campfire and a 3-course dinner before tuning in for your last night on Xobega Island.

Wake up early to coffee and breakfast in the dining tent on Xobega Island before departing the Delta and heading for the Savuti. After breakfast, you’re back out on the water for a 1.5 hour boat cruise transfer from Xobega to Xakanaxa Boat Station, where you will switch to a game viewer and be transferred to Xakanaxa Airstrip to connect with your light air transfer to Savuti.

Upon arrival at Savuti Airstrip in Chobe National Park, your

Camp Savuti guide will be waiting to meet you. You will then enjoy a 30-minute transfer through the park to Camp Savuti, located on the banks of the Savuti Channel.

Receive a warm welcome and a briefing from your host before having lunch and settling in to your tented room.

Later on in the afternoon you can enjoy a sunset game drive including a sundowner stop at a designated stretch point in the park and enjoy being surrounded by the famous Savuti! Head back to camp and refresh before dinner.

Early morning wake up call followed by a quick continental breakfast and coffee before departing on morning game drive. Enjoy a lengthy cruise around the Savuti Marsh and time to stop for coffee and rusks at a stretch point in the park. Return to camp and enjoy a good lunch before relaxing at the lodge or enjoying the view from your private deck.

High tea is served at the lodge later in the afternoon and is followed by an afternoon game drive complete with sundowners in the bush. As the sun sets, return to camp and enjoy the open-air campfire and a special dinner out on the deck under the stars.
